Hello again, long time no see. My dead boring blog has become centered on progress reports on my final film. This is not very good. Although I should let you know I'm long way through with my subtitling...

I've figured out that I'm not suited for juggling. More than two balls aloft at a time and my world gets filled with weird, intense guilt.
I'm strange with guilt anyway. I don't have nightmares, for examples, I have guiltmares. My worst dreams center on me having failed someone, and then I wake up feeling guilty for the rest of the day. I think I must have been Catholic in a former life. Although if I had been I probably wouldn't have done the whole reincarnation thing, would I? Probably be stuck in limbo somewhere, or worse, inferno... Which incidentally rhymes. No, not really though.

Best get back to my subtitling. I might have a career there, if all else fails. No. If all else fails I'm back to scrubbing floors. No! Making paper folders in a dark, spooky basement from hell, alone on an old East-German machine (where my cries for help would never have been heard)(hopefully, since I did a lot of loud singing on that job). That was a low point... no, wait... cleaning up all the goo from the intensive care unit... never mind scrubbing floors, cleaning blood, puke and worse kindof outshone that.
Fascinating, I'm sure.

Sorry. I have to get to work. Or maybe I should have a coffee first?
Going out to dinner with the girls tonight so I better work hard. Ciao.

Hullo there, can't believe it's Tuesday already and I haven't won the lottery yet. Granted I didn't compete. But I did win 125.000 kr. in my dream this morning. I was planning to use the 25.000 to buy clothes and the 100.000 to pay down debts... see how responsible I'm getting in my old age? Granted, I haven't ever been Miss Crazy Irresponsible. Just Miss Do It On The Last Minute Possible. Editing is going well, hope to finish the rough cut today and then spend a few days tweeking and texting and stuff.

DVD burning solved, can start editing now! Iha! Just hope everything isn't out of focus... :S
Watched a film by this African director (don't remember his name, it was very complicated) about women's circumcision in Sudan with Birna yesterday. It was very good! After that we caught this documentary on (sexual) abstinence on tv which was very good as well. Hmmm... female circumcision and abstinence... two things I generally try to avoid...

Although why they call female circumcision circumcision is beyond me. Generally circumcision means cutting off loose skin around the head of the penis while for women it means cutting off most of the external genetalia. Quite a different thing. Sortof like cutting of the head of the penis or the penis itself and not just the skin. Often using a rusted razorblade/old knife/lid of a tin can without sterilization or anaesthesia. Yeah. Quite a different thing.
A better (and most of the time more apt) phrase for female circumcision would be genital mutilation.

Shudder.

Hello darling. Not home alone no more. Guess I've finally lost all connection to Macaulay then. Oh, got goodies... campers shoes and a sweater and stuff... very nice :D And it was good to see the old set too.

Bad thing is I'm siiiiick. Now you should say, in a bad italian accent: Bella, bella! Whatis matter you, you no feel good?
And then you put on a very, very sad face (kindof like your pet died, but worse, 'cause it's me and I'm pathetic, I mean I'm feeling pathetic.)
OK. Now that's over and done with. I finished filming (finally, hardy har) and have to solve some dvd burning issues before editing full time...

And then I went to my old kindergarten 'cause it was it's birthday and they had free hot dogs and a guy dressed up as a pear singing (and telling us all it was ok to be pearshaped, for which I was very greatful. Although I kindof have this apple-shape thing going these days. Hey, at least it's still a fruit, right?). And then I saw a bunch of short people, mostly children. I like revisiting the kindergarten, I feel accomplished when I go there. I mean, most of these kids can't even read.

Hello there. I missed you. (Again, keeping the customer happy, clever, eh?) (At least you seem to be reading this, so how ineffective can it be?). Bon. I'm 93% finished with my final essay, and have filmed 33% of the stuff I need for the film, will finish by Wednesday and then it's hard core editing. Parents are coming home on Wednesday so I must clean the house. :( And lose that comfortable feeling of being queen of my castle. Back to being the maid in the basement. Oh, let's be honest, the spoiled little brat in the basement.

Anyway... went with my french and frenchish friends to Birna's for dinner on Friday and it was very nice. Birna is your average, mythical superwoman and a phenomenal cook. We were all trying to speak french (well, Marc and Sigga are obviously quite fluent, me and Birna were trying) at first... I soon gave up... I blaim it on the dialect, I understand Québecois much better than French French. (Sure.) But it's good to squeeze in a little french speaking exercise every now and then ;)
Cought the Fantastic Four with Gunna and Ásthildur on Saturday... good entertainment, doubt it will be nominated for the Academy Awards, though... buuut, who cares!

Well... hmmm... doubb, dee-roubb. Okay. I have not much to add. Fantastic to keep up with my blog, eh? I must inspire so many wonderful ideas in your head with my fruitful and original mode of writing? Yes?
I'm gonna go write some more essay stuff. Et aprés ca je vais me coucher, bon? Bonne nuit.
(Hey, I could write a french version of my blog!)
(No!)

Honey! I'm home! Oh, I forgot, I'm not married... (a beer for s/he who can place this line)
After a very nice weekend in town I left town on Sunday with Arnar and Sveinbjorg to a little summerhouse at Þingvellir national park. It is a small, old cottage that belongs to Fríða's family and it was very cosy. Amazing how nice it can be just to leave the city for a while, not to mention if you have good company like this. And I finally got to meet apastrákur and apastelpa, of whom I'd heard so much about. Nicer chimps you would be hardpressed to find. After a somewhat drastic departure the next day
(involving not finding the key after locking the front door, then realizing we'd left a window open, through which Sveinbjorg masterly climbed (she should be a cat-burglar), finally getting inside, not finding the key,but realising that the electricity was still on, the "machine-that-makes-sound-that-mice-hate" not on and the upstairs window still open... phew! It was a blessing in disguise we couldn't find the key... turns out Arnar had it all along!)(And I'm not elaborating on the flushing problem, hahaha! Or the trip to the lake to get water!) I like adventure trips!:)we left barely in time for Arnar to get to the airport and fly far away from Iceland :.( Hopefully I can go visit him and Fríða in Brighton this winter :)
Anyway, after this taste of the countryside I decided I wanted more, so I spent two more nights in our summerhouse at Álftavatn, with my books and my lap-top as faithful companions... got a little bit of work done, but, let's face it... I'm not exactly the master of discipline... think I'll manage in time, though.
Anywhoooo.... it's rrrreally late and I must go to bed.
If you know of any job that would suit me (preferably in television or the film industry)(or just anything above minimum wage) please let me know, asap... and ignore that thing about me being lazy and non-disciplined... I'm not really, at least not at work! Just at home, ok? I show up on time, am willing to work and obnoxiously upbeat :D And of course I am a god speeler.

Bowling. What a hoot! Went bowling with Arnar and a couple of his friends on Thursday. Unfortunately I was the worst player, but then again I was teamed up with a very good player, so all in all... not an embarrassing loss (unless you look at my individual score...)

Another, and a far more disturbing thing than me going bowling:
What the bloody hell is going on with KEA???
For those not following the news KEA just fired their CEO (more or less) because he wanted to make use of his rightful (and lawful) paternity leave. Well, in effect they fired him since they made it clear they didn't want him to take it and that if he were to take it he should quit... hmmm... very amicable. Yeeees. Sure...

The governing board of the company is of the opinion that the laws on paternity leave do not apply to senior managers with high incomes within their company.
Maybe we should write amendments to the law?? So that the laws ensuring men their right to be around their family during a crucial point in their lives apply to every man in the country... except the ones who work for KEA??? Maybe you have the right if you make 250.000 kr. a month but not if you make 300.000? At what monitary point do you have the right to take away human rights?

This is a huge blow given to the fight for equal rights in this country.
Not only are they suggesting that it's okay to take away men's rights within the home, they are also cutting a deep wedge into women's rights within the work-environment.

I call for a boycot on all KEA products.

I bought a lottery ticket yesterday, for the pan-Scandinavian Viking lotto. I buy lottery tickets every five years or so. And I always get just as surprised/mad/pissed when I don't win. I mean, if you want to keep the newcomers you have to show some effort... how about letting all people new to the game win a trifling amount, say 10.000 Krónur and then I'm sure they'd keep buying until they're old and grey and fat and really, really poor 'cause they bought all those lottery tickets.

Helloooo... had a fabulous time last night at "tango night", hihi... went with Ásthildur, Sigga and Marc and we had a blast. First we had some lessons and then we just danced (and took lessons from whoever was sorry enough to ask us to dance!)... I must say that the girls were very good (me not included) at tango, but I did a purty good Merengue (hihi). We danced with an American, portly, dance-crazy world-traveller who was very good and then I danced with a Portuguese guy who inseminates cows. And people say my chosen profession is weird.
Anywhooo... have to take an interview later and maybe drive to the countryside later for some filming. The sun is shining, although it is a bit cold. I just hate sitting inside all day long when the sun is shining.
Time for coffee now and a little bit of Neighbours...

Can't believe it's August already. Have to join the real world soon, then. Scary, eh? Anyway... had a marvellous weekend. Had a few friends over on Friday, which quickly developed into a salsa night... Yup! Weird, huh? We pushed all the furniture aside and played salsa music full speed and us stiffies tried to imitate the two people who could actually dance... hahaha...
On Saturday I went to Innipukinn (music festival) and had a blast with Arnar (my sister) and Susan... then went dancing with Doja, my cousins and Vala. Ended up dancing at 22 and winning at foosball (I'm sure). And then on Sunday (hey, it's a three day weekend in Iceland, ok??) I went out with Helga and again had fun. Have been trying to study all week (with some success, none too dramatic) and tonight I'm going to tango-night (as a result of the salsa, remember?) with my friends.

And so, this promising intellectual blog has sadly become a recounting of my social life. Well, at least I have one.
Ok... must read, write, bathe (put make-up on and my dancing shoes) and dance. Catch you later. (I don't have dancing shoes, everybody should have dancing shoes. Maybe blue suede? Eh? Blue Suede Shoes, Uh? Cool.)(I do have blue glitter shoes, does that count?)(Didn't think so.)
