Ooh, personality tests, gotta love'em... of course one only publishes the good results on the internet, he he he... ;) One test said that I had such a slow and steady personality that it was a problem, that I over-plan and organize everything... hahahaha!!! Yes. Exactly. (If only...)
I recommend joining thespark.com community, loads of yummy tests, but not really good for posting on your blog, oh well...
Gotta go read some Norwegian :S
Ciao

What? I get no comments? No: you know that an IQ test labelled "quick and dirty" is perhaps not so reliable... or that the average for such tests lies probably way above 100 so in all likelihood my intelligence is considerably below average? People? Is noone out there?? (apparently)Hmmm... I don't care. I twist to forget. Going back to reading Hochschild, The Time Bind.
Went for an icecream-drive with Ino yesterday. The portions are huge, we are rivalling the US now, apparently.

Hmmm... an IQ test that says that my mathematical skills are greater than my logical intelligence?? Or basically that my mathematical intelligence is exceptional... well... considering the math questions on the test, it is not very difficult to be exceptional... oh, well... 110. Not a mensa candidate then, I guess... Still, above average (standardized intelligence quotients have the mean of 100)(or was that medium? See, I suck at math!)
Check out my verbal intelligence, though... ooee...

Your IQ Is 110

Your Logical Intelligence is Above Average
Your Verbal Intelligence is Genius
Your Mathematical Intelligence is Exceptional
Your General Knowledge is Average

You Are 50% Normal

(Somewhat Normal)

While some of your behavior is quite normal...

Other things you do are downright strange

You've got a little of your freak going on

But you mostly keep your weirdness to yourself

I'm amazed. I read Norwegian fluently! And Swedish, although a little bit slower. I wasn't too sure before starting this project; thought I could maybe read a sentence in twenty minutes with the good aid of a dictionary, but turns out its no problem. I'm all for Pan-Scandinavia now. I might just move to Norway!! Nah... maybe not...

Hello there. It's Monday and I'm sitting in an office. Yes, OFFICE! Feel very grown up. I am reading and reading and reading sources on men, fatherhood and paternity leave and am getting a bit crosseyed.
Had the most excellent weekend. Went with a group of friends (a very assorted group compiled by Lina, worked like a charm!) to a summer-house in Flúðir (where they make the mushrooms!!) and we had a greeeat time. I have never eaten (/drunk) so much in my life... and we played Gettu Betur, Leonardo & co., Murder Mystery... ...soaked in the hot tub, cooked a scrumptious meal, mastered (ehem) the art of Kubb... a Swedish outdoor sport taught to us by Svanborg, the current champion of Iceland in it... and much, much more. All in all we had a fabulous time.
Now I will focus in on work, work, work and no play! :-D Yuuuup. Exactly. Will write essay, do research and film film. And host americans (am being kicked out of my very own room, to make way for guests! Hrumph!) and Sigga is coming soon :-D and I'm going out of town next weekend too... don't you just love summers?

Is it hale or hail? Hail to the Queen, right? Hmmm... english speak good me yes? I wrote hale to New Cross earlier. Well, that applies as well.

I was gonna say that I had absoloutely nothing to write about, but then I realised (just in the nick of time) that this was not entirely true. Hmmm. See. I bought myself a digital camcorder, custom made to turn B Nielsen into B Spielberg! No, puke! (hahaha, no, puke! Sounds like I'm twelve!!) Rather B Burton, or better, B Ball or still even muchos better: B Whedon! Yay! No. Oups. Those are all male names. Scary. But you bet yer booty we'll create numerous female counterparts yet. They exist, of course, but are at a great minority. :(
So. And. Hey, I went to Bryndís Ísfold's and Torfi's wedding on the 17th of June, it was a sunny and beautiful wedding and everybody had a great time! :D Aaaaand... well, we have tiles in the downstairs kitchen now and some cabinets up...
and I might go to a summercabin this weekend...
and and and...
Well, it's summer, what can I say?
Ooh, one thing. I don't get why Silvía Nótt is getting such a bad press, I think she's hilarious. Are people just not getting the joke?? People are daft.
Ooh, just started reading a suspense novel that takes place in London... where does the filthy rapist murder victim live?? New Cross!!! Hale to New Cross!!

I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a while. But it's summer, and sometimes it's nice out... and there is less to complain about.
I have a summer job, can you believe it?? I have a research grant, doing a project for the equality commission of the city of Reykjavik. It's a follow up research on a project that was done in '96-'98, where Reykjavik experimented with paternity leave for men (today men have 3 months paternity leave at the birth of a child, but back then they didn't)... so it's up to me to evaluate the long-term effects (if any) such a leave has had on the fathers, the families and the organisation of work within the family. This is of course very close to my masters project so I am very happy. Plus I am less poor!

What else, what else? I have to kick myself in the butt. I have to start working (and I have, a bit) but it is so SUNNY out!! This is rare in Iceland, for those of you who don't know...

Ohh, did I tell you I have a brand-spankin' new cousin? Apparantly he is gorgeous, but I haven't seen him yet. Mostly because my uncle and his family live out in the sticks. We're not even talking suburbia here. You have to cross a heath to get there, and if you have to cross a heath you have crossed some invisible line between city life and the country. OK, so it's only the town of Hveragerði, half an hour from Reykjavik. But STILL : HEATH!!!

Had a lovely time this weekend... I went for a café in the sun with Helga where we sat with Viggi and Vala and some of their friends... then I babysat for Gunna with Ásthildur and we cooked us some buuurgers... and I went for a long(ish) walk with Birna who then cooked for me (master chef, my Burns) and we watched North by NorthWest... I have a huge thing for Cary Grant. Hihihi. All in all a very nice weekend... (I didn't go out, did you pick up on that!?!?! And then of course my phone was swamped with exciting offers to go downtown from some of my favourite people, which never happens when I actually do go out... Fucking Murphy and his stupid legislation...)

Am gonna finish up here and go and drink coffee with Ino in the sun and then try and do some more research...
Suuuuun... :-D
